Solar Panel Installation: Solar Technology Explained

Solar technology explained

There are two main types of solar technology solutions that we install.

Photovoltaic solar panels

Photovoltaic solar panels (PV) will reduce your energy costs and save hundreds of kilos of carbon emissions every year, saving you money and making you feel good about reducing your carbon footprint.

PV panels are made from silicon. The majority of modules use wafer-based crystalline silicon cells or thin-film cells based on cadmium telluride or silicon.

Through harnessing the sun's energy the solar panels create a DC current which is then converted to AC by a specialised inverter. The conducting wires that take the current off the panels may contain silver, copper or other conductive (but generally not magnetic) transition metals. This current is then fed into the mains supply supplementing your normal electricity supply.

"All in all the whole process ran sweetly with a high level of professionalism. I would have no hesitation in recommending Apollo, with the sun out the £'s are rolling in." - Mark Mitchell
